The Courage of Spring
Sometimes things can get a bit hairy along this path we call life. We seem to sail through uneventfully and then wham! something, a comment, an idea, a sudden realisation that things need to change causes unsettledness and discomfort. It is during these times that we really discover who we are, what matters most, who we can trust and more importantly to place greater trust in ourselves.
I have been through many such journeys in my life and am in the middle of one just now. Excited about the future possibility but unsure of how I will land.
How does this uncertainty resonate with you?
Hold tight whilst I tell you a story. I recently spent a Saturday afternoon in the presence of strong women, all making decisions that are impacting on their lives. All who I have the privilege to call my friends. It was an art exhibition in a beautiful village in Pembrokeshire – you should visit if you are passing. I was there to support a friend who is an artist, amongst other things.
It was here as time stood still for just a few sacred moments that I heard the excited chatter of shared mindset, felt the vibes of excited and embracing potential and saw the output of this energy on the walls around the gallery.
It got me thinking about how the art on the walls can support the creation of our renewed selves. Bron is an artist that immerses herself in the landscapes of Carmarthenshire – her home. She is bold in spirit and in her own words describes ‘my natural tendency is to create representational work with fine detail, but there is a more spontaneous, abstract artist inside me fighting to get out!’
What is it that you are waiting to release?
She continues ‘sometimes you want to see an image that reminds you of a place or a moment, but at others, all you need is a combination of colours, a pattern, or a particular swipe of the palette knife, to evoke that sense of place.’ Creating the environment that fulfills your needs at a particular point in time.
What tools and resources do you have to hand?
What can you do right now to start your journey, to take your leap of faith and overcome fear? To experience that sense of freedom that is the right of all.
What will be your first step and when will you take it?
