Yep, you heard me correctly.
I decided to enjoy a day not running the treacherous lanes of home today but still indulged in the beauty of aloneness on a perfect winter’s day.
I watched my step and experienced slow and having learned recently how to use my camera more creatively (never too late!) I decided to take pictures and take my time in doing so for just the ‘most right moment’ I could capture.
I have meditated and dedicated myself to mindful daily moments for six years now and know of the benefit. I have worked to build this into my everyday work and play but know that this will be a forming of habit for the rest of my life. I am a realist when necessary.
But today I activated my active listening skills and hey presto, the sheep had something to say to me. Not only did they role model intense and awe-inspiring focus when eating, regardless of my dog showing great interest in them, they also showed me how the momentum picks up when your tribe work together to change direction. One more thing, even when others are bearing witness, they have that inner knowing that refuses to be side-tracked or distracted from their goal by what onlookers may or may not be thinking.
I am so aware of my need to learn, seriously even more today than in previous months, but didn’t think to look for teachers in the fields around me from creatures that watch me pass by several times each week as I run.
- What aspects of your life do you undertake mindfully and with focus?
- Who are your tribe, those people who you surround yourself with that add momentum to your ‘run’?
- What is it that distracts you and what do you do to overcome that?
