‘If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. African Proverb.
Life is not always easy. Even people who give the impression that the sun always shines may be experiencing ongoing anxiety and tension. Discontent, feelings of failure, a sense of rejection and abandonment. Don’t let them fool you, we are all human.
What I believe, in this latter part of my life is that there is an internal energy that we all have that is stronger when we connect. When we find unity, we are unstoppable. Nobody can or should be left to ‘go alone.’ A society, an organisation, a home is as successful as the way it treats its most vulnerable.
Today I ran when I didn’t want to run and realised it had been a long tome since I spoke to a close friend about running, or ran with another person. Lesson learned, I will be chatting to her on Sunday! I waited for a while by the river and watched as the flow was interrupted by branches and boulders. That flow faltered momentarily and then the momentum changed and the obstacles were overcome. The river continued to flow.
In order to develop our human capacity we perhaps need to let go of our ego a little, see that we are interconnected with each other and our world.
