The apple doesn’t fall far from…
A stitch in time…
There is no smoke…
You can’t have your cake and…
When the going gets tough, the tough…
We all experience a range of starting and finishing lines. They are not a one-time event, because as you reach one finishing line there is a national transition into your new starting line. I have been considering this more as I get older and wiser and especially since I began running, 11 months ago. I remember those days soon after I began, when I laced up my shoes and thought ‘What on Earth am I doing?’ And yet I went back out there again, and again, and again. Because I felt alive as I gasped for breath, as my ankles and knees ached, and as I started to notice a few weeks in how much stronger is was feeling.
What motivation keeps you moving past your previously set finishing line and on to your new starting line?
Because of what I have achieved with my running, which is extreme considering I had not run for 40 years, I feel even more excited now by the very idea of new starting lines across all areas of my life.
We are never too old, too young, too thin, too fat, too quiet, too loud, too fast, too slow, too set in our ways, too maverick, too steady, too flighty to get up, get out there and start afresh.
How does what you believe get you out there or hold you back?
But on Sunday May 1st I did have a huge finishing line to reach that scared me a bit. I entered the Birmingham Half Marathon-21KM and vowed I would finish that race, whatever it took. I ran with a friend, who remained measured, calm, and helped steady my pace as I began – I recalled one person who I was thankful for in my life for each KM I ran and explained how they had guided or supported me in my life. And a huge thank you to those people who I am lucky to have had steer me and inspire me.
Who do you have on your team? Who provides you with inspiration?
Hopefully you can all find a new starting line, so we raise the positive vibration of our world together and in our own individual way.
Proud beyond belief to have been with you to start and cross the finish line that momentous day. An inspiring post indeed.
